Ukrainian boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko has paid tribute to his former fiancée and the mother of his daughter, actress Hayden Panettiere, following her death.
Klitschko shared an emotional statement on Instagram on August 18, accompanied by an old photograph of himself, Panettiere and their daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko.
“Our family is going through a time of profound shock and grief,” he wrote, describing Panettiere’s death as deeply saddening and saying she “left this world far too soon”.
Although the couple were no longer together, Klitschko said Panettiere remained an important part of his life as Kaya’s mother.
He also reflected on her acting career, praising her talent while acknowledging the challenges she faced in the entertainment industry.
Klitschko said he would ensure their daughter remembers her mother with love and respect as she grows up without her.
He offered his condolences to Panettiere’s parents, friends and fans and asked that the family’s privacy be respected during their period of mourning.
Klitschko also said he would not make further public comments about Panettiere’s death for now.
