6 Zamfara Lawmakers Defect From APC, Blame Insecurity, Poor Leadership

Six members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned their membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal divisions, injustice, insecurity and what they described as poor leadership by the state government.

Bashar, who represents Gummi I Constituency, expressed appreciation to the APC leadership and members for their support and cooperation during his time in the party.

Also resigning is Basiru Bello, representing Bungudu West Constituency.

Bello similarly cited “lack of unity among the party stakeholders in the state, deception, uncertainties, injustice and inability of the government to overcome security situation in my constituency, state at large.”

Despite announcing their resignations, the lawmakers expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and members for the support and cooperation they received during their membership of the party.

They all asked the respective ward party chairmen to accept their letters as formal notices of resignation with immediate effect.

The resignations represent a major political development in Zamfara State, coming amid continued concerns over insecurity and political divisions in the state.
