The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, on Saturday declared that former Minister of Transportation and vice president candidate of the African Democratic Congress (APC), Rt. Hon
Chibuike Amaechi, has lost his credibility in politics.
This is as the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the party’s national chairman, Senator David Mark were among dignitaries that attended the burial of late Dame Mary Orduah Amaechi, at Ubima in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State.
Also in attendance at the funeral service, which took place at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ubima, were former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo as well as Atiku’s wife, Chief Mrs. Titi Abubakar.
Others dignitaries were APC national secretary, Rauf Aregbesola and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, among others.
Wike spoke at Omagwa in Ikwerre LGA while attending a civic reception organised in his honour by the Ikwerre people.
Addressing the gathering, Wike took a direct swipe at Amaechi, telling him he had forfeited his political standing and no longer commanded the influence or strength he once did.
The civic reception in Ikwerre LGA comes against the backdrop of the long-running political rivalry between the two former Rivers governors.
Meanwhile, an ADC chieftian, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has commended the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar for honouring the Amaechi family during their burial of their matriarch.
