Kano Village Head Abducted In Late-Night Raid

Armed bandits have abducted the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata, in a late-night attack on the community on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The attackers were said to have whisked the traditional ruler away to an unknown destination.

The incident was confirmed on Friday by Mahi Isma’il, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and District Head of Jogana, who described the abduction as a setback to the peace of the area.

The District Head of Jogana, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the village head.

“We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe return of our village head,” Ma’aji said.

He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding while cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information and maintaining vigilance.
