Police Arrest Principal Suspect In Bauchi Islamic Teacher’s Murder

Bauchi State Police Command has arrested the principal suspect in the murder of an Islamic teacher, Malam Rilwanu Dauda, in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi metropolis.

Dauda, a 46-year-old of Karofin Madaki, was reportedly attacked and stabbed with a knife by one Abdulrazak Sale, alias “Abba Sale Police,” a 24-year-old of Karofin Madaki, and members of his gang on 5th July, 2026.
The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.

The police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement, yesterday, said the command had, since the incident occurred, sustained efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and had placed them on its watchlist.
He said the suspects had previously been linked to a politically motivated murder in the same area before they went into hiding.

He said acting on credible intelligence provided by a Good Samaritan, operatives attached to the ‘A’ Division, Township, arrested the principal suspect Abdulrazak Sale Kundang on Monday, exactly three months after the alleged murder.

Habib added that efforts had been intensified to arrest the remaining accomplices who are at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and resilience.

He assured residents that the police would continue to pursue criminal elements across the state, warning that no criminal would have a hiding place in Bauchi State.

The commissioner directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and the suspect charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
