Social Media Users Raise N14m For Resilient Nigerian Graduate

Social media users on X have raised over ₦14 million for a fresh university graduate, Felix Madumere Nwachikerendu, after his story of academic perseverance and personal struggle went viral.

Reports shared online detailed how Nwachikerendu supported his education by fetching water, doing laundry for fellow students, hawking peanuts, and occasionally sleeping in lecture halls.

After initially facing withdrawal due to financial difficulties and low academic performance, Nwachikerendu retook the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), gained fresh admission, and completed his degree requirements.

Following the completion and successful defence of his final-year project, social media users launched a fundraising drive that quickly accumulated over ₦14 million in contributions.

“What began as a mockery turned out to be a miracle,” stated prominent X user Sir Dickson, who helped coordinate the campaign.
