Remi Tinubu Advocates Charity, Volunteerism To Tackle Poverty

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to embrace charity and volunteerism as collective tools for reducing poverty, strengthening communities and supporting vulnerable members of society.

Tinubu made the call in a message to mark the 2026 International Day of Charity, celebrated on September 5.

She said the occasion serves as a reminder of the power of kindness, compassion and generosity in building a more caring and inclusive society.

According to the first lady, charity goes beyond giving material assistance, noting that it involves extending a helping hand, restoring hope and supporting people in need.

“Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in the life of another,” she said.

Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to continue to embrace the spirit of giving and volunteerism, particularly in supporting the vulnerable and less privileged.

She said that through collective action, Nigerians could help reduce poverty, strengthen communities and ensure that no one is left behind.
