How We Discovered Late Veteran Actor Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan Had Cancer — Aide

Azeez Ayinde Onifade, a close associate and aide to the late Nollywood actor Taiwo ‘Ogogo’ Hassan, has opened up about the events leading to the discovery of the veteran actor’s cancer diagnosis before his passing.

Speaking in a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Onifade detailed how Ogogo’s prolonged health struggles initially led to various medical evaluations, spiritual prayers, and misdiagnoses.

According to Onifade, the actor was initially treated for an ulcer after experiencing persistent body discomfort. Despite trying several remedies and undergoing multiple medical tests, the symptoms persisted.

“As far as I’m concerned, Ogogo was the number one person who never joked about his health,” Onifade said. “He would even suggest running tests to his doctor… He kept telling me he had some discomfort in some part of his body.”

Onifade revealed that after a series of intensive tests at a facility in Surulere, a doctor advised that Ogogo be taken immediately to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

It was at LASUTH that test results finally confirmed the medical condition.

“When the result was out… his firstborn, Rashida, told me the result of the test that was carried out on him. They discovered he had cancer,” Onifade stated.

The late veteran actor passed away on August 23 at the age of 66 after battling stage four cancer, and was buried the following day according to Islamic rites.
