The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have pledged to deepen their collaboration on security, crowd management and the safety of Nigerian pilgrims during Hajj operations.
The commitment was made on Wednesday when the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, at the Commission’s headquarters, Hajj House, Abuja.
The meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination ahead of future Hajj operations, with particular attention to the movement and management of large crowds and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian pilgrims.
Audi commended the leadership of NAHCON and its ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian Hajj industry.
He assured the Commission of the continued support and cooperation of the NSCDC, stressing the importance of effective collaboration between security agencies and Hajj authorities in ensuring smooth and safe pilgrimage operations.
The NSCDC plays a key role in supporting security arrangements during Hajj operations, particularly in managing large gatherings and maintaining order around pilgrims and designated facilities.
Responding, the NAHCON chairman thanked the NSCDC chief for the visit and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the existing partnership.
Yusuf said closer cooperation between both institutions remained vital to protecting Nigerian pilgrims and ensuring the success of future Hajj operations.
He also emphasised the need for effective coordination among relevant agencies involved in the annual pilgrimage to guarantee orderly movement, adequate security and the overall welfare of pilgrims.
The meeting comes as NAHCON continues efforts to improve the organisation and delivery of Hajj services for Nigerian pilgrims, with security and safety remaining key components of the pilgrimage operation.
Both agencies agreed to maintain their collaboration in the interest of Nigerian pilgrims and to ensure that future Hajj operations are conducted in a safe, orderly and efficient manner.
